Business or Pleasure? Possibly a bit of business, but this trip was mainly pleasure. I’m thrilled I got to see my one of my best friends (Vee) before she moved out of SoCal.
If you’re wondering what in the world could have been the business aspect of this trip? I did not come to San Diego empty handed. Like me, Vee is a True Blood enthusiast. It wouldn’t have seemed right if she wasn’t somehow featured on my TB cupcake project. So expect to see her familiar face soon.
For those that were curious about the TB cupcake box, it’s mainly a box with cupcakes that were inspired by True Blood characters. There will possibly be a choice of 9-12 cupcakes, and you simply choose six to fill your box. I’m dying to know what will be everyone’s favorite.

It’s amazing how many E-mails you can respond to while traveling. Well, in my case, flying. Of course, unless you’re flying Virgin America and had paid the $12.99 fee for wifi, the emails won’t actually send until we land. Either way, I was able to use my free time to respond adequately to four potential clients. Go Apey!
I’m flying out to San Diego. This was a last minute trip. When I say last minute, I mean it was bookedliterally two days ago. What’s the purpose of this trip? One of my best friends is moving from SD to up north. Not my kinda north (Bay Area), but more way up north. I guess I should count my blessings that she is still on the West Coast.
So this trip will probably be one of the last few times I ever come out to San Diego… at least for a VERY long while.
I do have some awesome news. TB cupcakes are coming soon! I’m so stoked about them and I hope you guys will be too. Small photo session this weekend and photos should be up in a few days. Hopefully this TB assorted cupcake box will be done before the season finale of True Blood on Sept 12.
Get stoked!

Everyone that knows me, knows how overly in LOVE I am with True Blood (and everything it’s associated with). Tonight is the Ultimate Truebie event in San Francisco (along with 49 other cities across the U.S.), and in the height of excitement, I’ve decided to do a True Blood sample goodie pack. Now, what would be inside a sample good pack? Baked goods of course! For those of you that have been keeping tabs on my blog, when I celebrated my birthday two months ago, it was all in the True Blood theme. From the invitation, table place cards, decor, drinks, menu, red carpet background, and desserts.
So, this time around, rather than having the desserts exclusively to myself and my guests, I’d like to share them with fellow Truebies out there. I’ll be giving away a few (limited) sample boxes to Ultimate Truebie fans. What would be included in the sample box? Why of course it’d include each of the following:
* Vanilla Blood Red cupcake (True Blood)
* Brownie pop dipped in white chocolate (and bloody vampire bite marks)
* Rice Krispy Treat (Merlotte’s)
* Sugar cookie (TruBlood)
* Cheesecake (Fangtasia)
Here are a few sample photos of the desserts that were served at my party.

How do you enter?
Simply tweet (@apeyisrad) or send me an email (info@apeyisrad.com) as to why you’re an ULTIMATE TRUEBIE!
Also, I’ll have a one lucky winner go home with a 6″ round True Blood theme cake (design not yet determined). That would be perfect for anyone that will be throwing a premiere party.
Rules: There are no rules! However, winners can only be local (SF/Bay Area only) as they would have to come and pick up/claim their prize. Sorry, can’t really throw cheesecake in the mail. Unless, non-local truebie would like to opt for an alternative “Fangtasia” theme dessert? Give me your suggestions!
Questions, feel free to email me: info@apeyisrad.com

I’m currently sitting on the airplane, flying back home from Las Vegas. I had a fun and amazing time watching the Jabbawockeez perform at the Hollywood Theater at MGM. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone out there. Not only did they blow me away, it was also humorous. The guys are hilarious. Now, when certain songs come to mind, their performance is all I can think about. Let’s just say that I loved it so much, I’m itching to come back in June when they do another week run of performances. This time I’ll have to tow a lot of people who were hesitant on going, cause they wouldn’t and shouldn’t miss this!
Now that I’m limited to phone and mobile web use, I figured it was time to play catch up with everything that’s gone on and coming up.
The past two weeks have been majorly busy with orders, and I’ve accomplished two successful dates for the Great American Bake Sale. This is for a great cause and it should be taken seriously. All proceeds go to helping make sure that no child goes hungry. Check out the website for more info and join us in helping END CHILDHOOD HUNGER.
In future news, summer is quickly approaching and for many, summer has already started. As promised, the new layout will be done this summer. Be patient though as I’m still working out the details.
Also, I’ve gotten a great response on the newest cupcake that will be added onto the menu, “The Obar” cupcakes. If you haven’t been keeping tabs, it’s a root beer cupcake with a vanilla cream frosting, topped off with a mini straw for decor and a little cartoon figure of whom the cupcake is named after.
There are still a few more cupcake creations in the works, and hopefully with the response, they’ll be available in the summer for ordering, when the site is done of course.
I’ve got my team of people working on this, so I’ll keep everyone posted. Hope everyone is having a wonderful May

New cupcake in the process of being added onto the menu.
Everyone, feel free to enjoy the new flavor, ROOT BEER, which is officially called “The Obar,” named after a pretty awesome friend of mine. If you don’t know him, just add him on twitter @stweetphenobar.

This past weekend was quite a religious one. Saturday I had the honor of creating an angelic baptism cake, which was quite pleased with. Sunday, my goddaughter returned back from her confirmation retreat over the weekend. It ended with a family potluck and I was finally able to create cupcakes for her class. Happily, I think everyone enjoyed them.

Along with the new layout for this site, which will be coming this summer, I am making it my goal to work more with molding chocolate and gum paste. I do have a new “toy” I’ll be able to work with on cake decorating next month. I’m extremely stoked and I am thrilled at all the creative custom ideas for cakes and cupcakes everyone has been having when ordering. I personally think the best end results are always from those who are open minded.
Last month I worked with my 4 year old goddaughter and her fellow cousins and cookie decorating. They all had fun, but ended up eating their decorated cookies right away. Next up, I’m hoping to have her decorate her own small cake. Hopefully, I can make a plan out of this, and be able to share the creative and fun Journey of cake decorating with other kids.
Stay posted, more updated soon!

Seriously, I cannot believe that I’ve allowed two months to roll on by and yet not post a blog update!
The weekends have been super busy with orders and prepping upcoming projects. Unfortunately, I know I had said that a new layout would be in the works shortly after the Seven Deadly Sins photo shoot, but that won’t happen until this Summer. There’s a lot to revamp and so many photos to go through. Who knows, maybe by then, I’ll have another awesome cake/cupcake photo shoot idea! But for now, all recent photos of the cakes and cupcakes are posted on Facebook. To stay up to date, add Rad Creations on Facebook, or follow me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/apeyisrad).
Here’s an idea on upcoming cake and cupcake projects/orders
Baptism cake, Confirmation cupcakes, Victoria’s Secret Box cake, and finally, a TIM BURTON theme cake & cupcakes!

For those of you that have been keeping tabs with me on Twitter, this blog, or either of the Rad Creations Facebook or Myspace page, you’d know that this past weekend was the photo shoot for the upcoming new theme on the site.
In the wee hours of the early morning on Saturday, we left the city (SF) at 4am and made it to LA by 10am. After arriving at my friend’s apt in West Hollywood we all unloaded the car, unpacked everything, began setting up the lights and photo equipment, designated a make up & hair area, and prepped and decorated cupcakes all in a timely manner. The actual shoot went on from 12pm-7pm, and I can’t thank everyone enough for being so patient and being open minded about everything.

This photo shoot has been in the works for a little over two months, and I can’t begin to tell you how utterly stoked and impressed at how smooth it all went. This was a collaboration filled with many different artistic aspects and formation; baking, photography, style, make-up, etc. It’s amazing to see the something that started as a simple idea, grow and appear right before your eyes. Kelli Hayden (KHayden.com), an amazing photographer who always blows me away with her work, made my imagination come to life. I had the honor of having some of the amazing people in my life take part of this shoot. With the success of wrapping up the entire shoot in 7 hours, we all celebrated and had dinner at The Hard Rock Cafe at City Walk. I simply can’t wait for the new layout and for everyone to see what we’ve come up with.

The shoot took place in West Hollywood, but thankfully this wasn’t just all business. We definitely made the best of our trip to the LA area, checking out Griffith Observatory, lunch at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles, and also meeting up with a new friend (of course I had some special cupcakes in tow). Check out the special cupcakes I made for him.

[Go follow him on Twitter. He's a pretty awesome and funny guy. @StweetphenObar]
Also, I never got the chance to post up the video link for Hopie Spitshard’s “YUMMY” video, which features a Rad Creation, made by yours truly (with the assistance of MY AMAZING KAYS!! (Miss LAX.. or Lauren as most of you know her as). The video premiered online February 14, but I just never had the chance to post it up here. Go to www.HopieSpitshard.com to see the video.
One last thing before I sign off on this… Not only did I want to give Kelli Hayden a BIG ‘THANK YOU’ for the success of the photo shoot, I want to also give a HUGE THANK YOU to Lauren Abria (Kays/Miss LAX) too because in all honesty, this photo shoot wouldn’t have come alive either if it wasn’t for her and all her help. Down to helping to brainstorm ideas on some of the outfits, accessories, taking the lead on designing the make up, doing majority of the make up, and doing ALL the girl’s hair, and helping me prep and make sure we had everything. She went out of her way to pick up and get needed accessories for the shoot the past couple of weeks, and let’s not forget, she’s always kept me SANE. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to be by my side on this crazy (but fun) journey. Follow her on twitter @lax_bitch and give her much needed props!
Anyways… going in a backward motion
1. Check out Hopie (www.hopiespitshard.com)
2. Follow @StweetphenObar on Twitter
3. Read up on Kay’s blog, especially the 10 Questions segment every Monday (clustrfuck.blogspot.com)
4. Add Rad Creations on Myspace & FB (Check out the links section)
5. Check out Kelli’s amazing photos (KHayden.com)
Keep an eye out for the new theme and layout. I’ll revamp the site soon, so you should all expect a few new items on the menu. Get stoked!

Normally, I’m not a fan of these pet names, but for some reason, I’ve grown to feel OK with that term (Although, I’ll NEVER be a fan of the term “BABE”).
Anyways, I’ve been recently obsessed with the Sookie Stackhouse series and read all nine books within a week’s time. It’s amazing how time flies. You find yourself in a completely different world, one filled with so much imagination. For myself, and I’m sure for many others, reading completely takes you away from this world, along with its reality, and off to a more happier and relaxing place, regardless of the events in the story. It’s a damn good book when you can feel your heart race, skip a beat, or break while all the words of an author’s story is playing in your mind like a movie reel. Although, thanks to HBO’s TrueBlood series, my imagination was able to take flight so much more easily. With that said, I couldn’t wait until the premiere of Season 3 in June 2010 so I made some cupcakes in honor of my guilty pleasure.

Since I was a kid, Vampire stories and movies have always had a soft spot in my heart. I’ll confess though, I’m not a fan of Twilight and I don’t see the hype. Sadly, that’ll probably be the only vampire story I wouldn’t care to read or watch.
In other news, creative orders are picking up again, and like I always say, be sure to place your orders ahead of time (to avoid a rush fee) and to always let your imagination run free.
This past weekend of course was Super Bowl Sunday. So stoked the Saints won!

Since I have no more Sookie Stackhouse books to read (until May 2010, book #10 is released!), I’m now focusing on a special birthday cake for a dear friend of mine, which is being held at SOM in San Francisco. If you’re in the area Thursday night, come join the party since her long awaited video for “YUMMY” will be premiered.
Go check her out www.hopiespitshard.com
And finally, I’ll also be turning the rest of my focus and attention to a HUGE February project. It’s about time we turned this site up a little. With the help of some awesome friends of mine, this is going to be a GREAT turn out. So beginning March, look for a new theme, layout, etc.

So, I know I’ve been saying that I’ll update the photo gallery, and yet I haven’t. It’s easy, but it’s so time consuming. I think I’m going to cut down the photos, and just put up my favorites and the most popular ones. Same goes for the cupcakes. I’m going to attempt to revamp this site. Just know there’s a brand new theme on it’s way. I’m so excited for it, but the relaunch won’t come until early March, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
More blogging later. Possibly after tonight’s Cherry Blossom theme cake.
